Tamworth's first Team Penning Association, T&DTPA has been enjoying monthly club days in the Tamworth district since 1998 at the Moonbi Recreational Grounds, located approx 21 km's North of Tamworth. Having issued our 1,100th membership, we have continued to grow with competitors travelling from across NSW to compete at our monthly club days.
Tamworth Team Penning Association encourages participation by all age groups

Monthly Events
Our monthly club days start at 9.00 a.m. with the 'Entries Office' open at 8.30 a.m. (unless otherwise advertised) where you can pay and collect your arm band. All riders are to be either a day or full member of T&DTPA and sign a 'waiver' Spectators are welcome and entry to the grounds is free and for the safety of riders and horses, no dogs are allowed. Hot food and refreshments are available on the grounds
Team Penning
Team Penning is a sport whereby a team of 3 riders must cut out 3 beasts with the same (announced) colour neck collar from a herd of 30 cattle. These 3 head must then be put into a pen together at the far end of the arena within a given time.
Team Sorting
Very briefly, Arena Sorting is a sport whereby a team of 3 riders must draft 10 cattle through a gate in numerical order (following on from the first number announced) from a herd of 12 cattle in a specified time and the team with the most cattle through the gate in the fastest time wins.
Riders and horses of all ages and from all disciplines participate in these exciting events with our club and you will always hear lots of encouragement from the sidelines.
NSW Team Penning Championships
In October each year we hold the NSW Team Penning Championships. Team Penners come from all over the country to compete in Junior, Youth and Open events where significant prizes are to be won thanks to our many generous sponsors.
